7/9/11 - Avid Anglers Tournament @ Lake Winnipesaukee
Launched from Lee's Mills ramp for a 7am. My usual co-angler status for a club tourney. At take-off conditions are different than yesterday. About 8-10 degrees warmer, bright sun, and the water is glass. Hit the 1st spot that produced the bigger topwater fish yesterday, and right away the boater Dave hooks up with a short, and then I get a monster blow-up on my popper but dont connect, and then nothing for atleast an hour. Topwater bite died, so we move on. Dave's working that popper, and Im dropshotting in about 8ft around some cabbage and I hook up with my 1st Largemouth about 1lb. That spot goes dry, so we move to the spot we got the most dropshot production, and right away I hook-up with a 1-1/4lb Largemouth. Then the wind whips up, so we anchor up to stay on the spot ,then its Pickerel, almost 2lb Largemouth, 3lb Pickerel, Pickerel, 1-3/4lb Largemouth, Pickerel, and then it slowed. Fight the wind the whole time, we try some other spots, Dave hook his only fish of the day 1-1/2lb Largemouth. Try some docks, get some bites but no hook-ups. Head back to the dropshot spot after a couple hours, anchor up, and 1st cast a 1-1/2lb Largemouth to finish my limit. Beside a couple more pickerel each that would be it for the day.Finished my day with 3 Bluegill, 6 Pickerel, and my limit of Largemouth. 1st place yielded 13 plus lbs, 2nd had 11 plus lbs, and I rounded out the top 3 with 7.33lbs. Winnipesaukee is a nice looking body of water, and look forward to seeing more of it in the future.
