7/6/08 - Spot Pond - Stoneham, MA

I dont know what to make of this place. Ive heard in years past it was a great place, but something happened here. Plenty of places to cast from shore, and I only make it around a quarter of the pond. Mostly sandy/rocky bottom. Water is very clear. Vegatation is nearly non-exsistent. Seems to have good depth as well. I threw slug-go's, crankbaits, topwater, spinnerbait's...Nothing! I tied on a rooster tail for the hell of it at the end of the night and finally got an 8in Perch to break the shutout. Saw a Orange Koi about 10lbs float by at the end of the night.

Comments

  • Spot is tricky in August. You've got to go DEEP and SLOW. Working the bottom with a jig-n-craw will work though.
