5/7/11 - Avid Anglers @ Long Pond Lakeville
Club tourney today, and expecting the weather to be overcast with some showers, I forgot my sunblock at home, of course the sun was out all day, lol. This was my 1st time fishing this water. Dark tea stained color water, rocks, and everything looks fishable. Well it was a tough day period between the blue bird skies, and the howling wind. Few and far between for bedding fish. So we fished alot of grass beds in 4ft to 6 ft of water with Rat-L-Traps, shallow cranks, senkos, soft jerkbaits and the Pickerel, and Calico Bass were on fire! Dohhh! I unfortunately boat 8 Pickerel, and 2 dinner plate sized Calico Bass. Got a short Largemouth on a Jig. The boater in fish with today finished the day with 2 Largemouth for just over 2-1/2lbs. My only keeper of the day was on a shakeyhead. 1 Largemouth 12-1/2in 1lb 1oz gave me 11th place out of 17 anglers. Lots of laugh, fun day, and no shut out.
