5/17/14 - Avid Anglers @ Long Pond Harwich
Club Tournament at Harwich, and as expected this was a spawn tourney. Although for this year, the spawn is not full bore yet. My usual spot as Co-Angler, I fished with Fred today. The day started with winds 20mph out of the SE, Gusts to 40. Intermitent rain that would clear by 10:30-11, then the Sun came out to play, and winds calmed to 10-15mph. We focused on deeper beds, cause they usually hold better fish. Tubes were the bait of choice for the Smallies today. Fred was on them early from the front of the boat. With a limit by 9, and a good limit by 11, only real big fish would help him at that point. I had a 1-1/2lber come off, and a 2-1/2lber break off due to a nick in my knot before I would finally get some fish in the boat. 1st up was one about 2lbs, next was one that could have been may best of the day, but it inhaled my tube so deep, it was belly up in minutes unfortunately. My last one of the day was what I weighed for my lunker 3.06lbs. My 3 Smallies weighed 8.24lbs, minus .25lb for dead fish penalty gave me 6th place with 7.99lbs. 1st had 18.32lbs with a 4.06lb Lunker Smallie, Fred had 2nd with 16.50lbs, 3rd was 16.32lbs.
