10/13/13 - Fishing, Food, And Football @ Boon
A small group of us worked on this plan of a tournament, followed by BBQing, and watching the Pats game. Ronnie offered to host at his place on the lake. A bunch of us brought for the food to grill. Ronnie also set up the TV outside, and had a fire going. Cool set-up.
Chuck and I were one of 8 teams. Tournament went from 7:30ish to 2pm. Water still looks terrible. Weather forecast was way off, they said Sunny mid 60's, with 5-10mph winds. More like cloudy mid to high 50's, winds at 15mph with the occasional gust. Fishing was a grind all day. Chuck had a 1lber crankin' in the 1st hour. About 11am I finally get on the board with a 2-1/4lber on a spinner bait. In the next hour Chuck got a 1lb 5oz out from under a tree, I got a 1-3/4lber off a dock on a spider grub, and then about noontime I filled out the limit as a 2lb 15oz swiped at my spinner bait coming through some brush and got the trailer hook. A little after 1pm, Chuck is throwing a jig, I'm still with the spider grub at some wood. All of a sudden Chuck say "Big Fish", and I feel a good thump, set the hook, 3lb 5oz in the boat to cull out the 1lber. I then took a few minutes to weigh the rest of the fish, Chuck says "whats our small one?" I respond with "1lb 5oz", seconds later he sets the hook, 1lb 14oz to cull the 1lb 5oz. Couple nice upgrades in the last hour.
The final results were:
1st. Angry Landlords - Limit @ 12.14lbs w/ 3lb 5oz Lunker
2nd. Bite Me - Limit @ 11.58lbs w/ 3.92lb Lunker
3rd. Beaver Fever - 3 fish @ 4.88
4th. Why Not Know - Limit @ 4.86lbs
5th. R & R - 3 fish @ 3.48lbs
6th. No Catchum - 4 Fish @ 3.30lbs
7th. Dirty Bassassins - 2 Fish @ 2.14lbs
8th. Northshore - 1 fish @ 1.68lbs
After that was wrapped up, we ate like vikings, and watched the Pats. Lots of laughs all night. Most of us left when Brady threw the INT, but Chuck, and Northshore stuck around to see the magic. Great day guys!
Ill add some pictures when Johnny gets them from Ed.
You're the senko guy
we should've thrown the worm under docks more. i have a hard time getting myself to throw it anymore though. i bring it then just skip jigs instead.
We fished docks all day but couldn't get em to bite. Good job
What a great day,I was lookin foward to a good day fishin on the boon with Mitch and we culled fish quick and serchin for that bragin fish and had him on first thing in the morning and broke off &^%# with my injury hurtin bad and not able to use the foot pedal, we switched up front and brushed it off, and was given one more chance for lunker a half hour later four feet of line under a dock bam gave high fives!!
I'm grateful that Sam didn't have gas
it was a great day. the fishing sucked for us and a lot of teams but of course someone always find them. we couldn't. the place seriously needs a year off from weed kill and getting absolutely pounded. the quality has gone way down.
Sounds like a great day for everyone involved. Kudos for putting it together
